Show Me Readers Challenge is HERE!
Buchanan Elementary students in grades 1-3 will be taking part in the Show Me Readers Award Challenge. The challenge will take place January 6- February 24.
The purpose of the Show Me Readers Award is to promote literature, literacy, and reading in Missouri elementary schools for grades one through three and to promote recognition of authors and illustrators of books that are favorites of Missouri children in these grades.
The students will read 6 out of the 10 nominated books to qualify to vote for their favorite book. Voting will take place the first week in March. When the students have read six books and have parent signatures for each book on this recording sheet, the students will bring the completed sheet to Mrs. Pingleton, the library media specialist. The students will then vote for their favorite book. The votes will be collected and sent in electronically with the other votes of Missouri students grade 1-3.
Students that achieve the Show Me Readers Award Challenge will be celebrated at a Buchanan Elementary assembly and will be presented with a challenge certificate.
Hope you are up for the Reading Challenge!!
Do YOU have a "FAVORITE" place to READ?
I do! I actually have SEVERAL "Favorite" places to read!
The BE Library Media Center is looking for pictures of students reading in their "Favorite" places.
Ask a family member or friend to take a picture of you reading in your favorite place. Then print it off and bring it to Mrs. Pingleton in the LMC. OR the picture can be sent to Mrs. Pingleton's email. (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Our goal is to cover the front entrance wall with student pictures!
I can't wait to see where your "FAVORITE" READING PLACE is!
