Introduction

Mary Pope Osborne, the author of the Magic Tree House series, has decided to continue her time-traveling adventure stories about Jack and Annie by writing books where the kids travel back in time and meet famous inventors. She wants each book to make the reader think about what life would be like if that person’s invention had never been invented! She wants her readers to identify how the effects of inventions may be helpful, harmful, or both!

Random House, the publisher of the Magic Tree House series, has decided to help Mrs. Osborne in the planning of her new books by creating a contest where kids have the chance to help research these inventors and their inventions and help plan the plot of the book!
