Activity 1
When Owney arrives at your school, write a post on our Owney blog to let everyone know what he would see when he visits your town. Include lots of details so we can get a good idea of what your town is like. Be sure to take a picture of him visiting your school library and add that to your post.
You are encouraged (but not required) to create a movie, slideshow, etc. that documents Owney’s visit to your school. Just embed it into your blog post. If you need help, contact Mrs. Matzat, the project host.
Tools you could use for a movie or slideshow:
Animoto
PhotoPeach
Slideshare
Google Presentations
Activity 2
Create a tag or trinket that identifies your school and town. You may use the template below to plan your design. You might consider making this a contest and use the winning design as the one that you attach to Owney. Attach the tag to Owney’s jacket before you send him to the next school.

The above two activities are the only required activities for the project. You can find other activity ideas, including an Owney Readers Theater script, on Mona Kerby's website. |
