Virtual World

We began creating Virtual projects after visiting a poster session at the NECC Conference in Atlanta. Diane Heitzenrater, Keith Valley Middle School with Valerie Fasy and Gregory Telthorster had a poster session entitled Designing Virtual Museums in PowerPoint for All Content Areas . Four teachers had created a Virtual Museum on a powerpoint with their students. We took this fantastic idea and embellished it, with the help of my fellow teacher, Becky Ramer, we created a musuem where the students could display their own art work and their own reports. We even created an art workshop where the students told how to do the projects. We want to thank the teachers from Keith Valley Middle School for presenting in Atlanta and teaching us that a powerpoint can be more than a way to display reports, it can make the reports come alive. Below you will find two of our Virtual projects created by my second graders, click on the first slide to view the powerpoint. After my fourth graders viewed the powerpoints they begged to create their own virtual project. Right now we are in the process of building an aquarium, an ocean, a battlefield, outer space, a farm, and a pumpkin patch. Look for them after March. Please share your ideas for virtual worlds with us.
