Congratulations! You have successfully written a bill that matters to kids, parents, and the future governor of Missouri. Now that you understand why we have a constitution and a Bill of Rights you can determine the needs that Missouri citizens have. Thank you for giving your time and creative ideas to making sure Missouri is a safer place. Here are some questions to think about and then read an intense story to stretch your mind.
Would you be able to leave home at the age of 11 and work in a factory for 12 hours a day?
What if the lives of your parents, brothers, and sisters depended on you working?
Would you want to work in a place where you could get seriously injured or die?
If you find it hard to answer these questions than you should read the story, "Strike for 3 Loaves" to learn about how things use to be. How can the children in the story be protected? What freedoms are being violated? Who decided what was best for those kids?
After reading the story create a bill that you think should become a law for the children that suffered in the story. Turn it in to your teacher.
