The Branson High School Academic Team participates in academic competitions in southwest Missouri. Branson High School competes in the Central Ozarks Conference (COC) which consists of teams from Bolivar, Branson, Buffalo, Logan-Rogersville, Marshfield, Nixa, Ozark, Reeds Spring, Republic, and Willard. The district teams compete in about twelve competitions a year as well as a conference and state tournament
The competitions are a jeopardy style competition with questions taken from a wide range of fields including math, science, literature, history, and current events. The competitions consist of one team of four members competing against four members of another team. The teams are allowed to substitute players during rounds. Each game consists of a total of four rounds of questions with the first and third rounds being tossup questions that are open for any team member to buzz in and answer. The second and fourth rounds are tossup questions with bonus questions offered for the first team that responds. Some competitions are shortened to only three rounds in order to speed up the competition. Last Updated 8/10/06
