This December, we are thrilled to honor Todd Koon, a legendary physics teacher at Branson High School, with the Pirate Proud Award! For 29 years, Mr. Koon has been a pillar of dedication, passion, and generosity in our school community.
From leading the BHS Student Council to supporting our students at countless sporting events and activities, his commitment knows no bounds. Remarkably, he hasn’t missed a single day of work in 20 years—talk about dedication!
Known for his many colorful ties, student council representatives plan a "Mr. Koon Day" every year when students are invited to come to school dressed like him. To make today's presentation an extra special surprise, the students made it this year's Mr. Koon Day!
Mr. Koon received many nominations from fellow staff members and students, all mentioning his dedication to Branson Schools and the students he serves.
One fellow staff member sums it up best: "Mr. Koon embodies the true spirit of a Branson Pirate. Loyal to the core, he shows incredible school pride and always goes above and beyond to take care of the little things that often go unnoticed but mean so much. His generosity is unmatched—he’d literally give you the shirt off his back. His love for physics shows in the curiosity and excitement of his students. If you’re searching for a role model of what it means to be a Branson Pirate, look no further than Todd Koon. He’s an inspiration to all who know him!"
Thank you, Mr. Koon, for your unwavering commitment to excellence, your love for learning, and your endless support of our schools and students. You make Branson Public Schools a better place every day.
