The Missouri School Boards’ Association has selected 20 local boards of education for recognition as “Outstanding” for 2018. The awards were announced at the annual MSBA Leadership Summit held June 2 at Lake of the Ozarks. The Outstanding Board of Education Awards were aligned to six specific categories of the Missouri Public Education Vision Project. Those categories include: climate, culture and organization efficacy; governance, leadership and accountability; human and organizational capital; physical and environmental resources; school finance; and teaching, learning and assessment.
The Branson board of education received Missouri’s Outstanding Board of Education Award in the area of physical and environmental resources. Recipients of this award must meet the following criteria: quality learning environment; safety and security; technology; environmental practices; community use of facilities; and long-range facility planning.
Members of the Branson School District’s board of education include: Roger Frieze, Jeff Smethers, Dan Boone, Cole Currier, Peter Marcellus, Angie Smith and Craig Wescott. Brad Swofford is district superintendent.
