The BHS Interact Club, an extension of the Branson-Hollister School Rotary Club, sponsored its first annual social media fast last week. The club gathered 45 volunteers who agreed to give up social media during April 15-21. Members of the Rotary Club donated, individually, over $2,000 to the Interact organization in support of the fast. The money will be used to assist community charitable organizations. The students are under the direction of Ashleigh Hawkins, Interact advisor.
The media fast included the following parameters: zero interaction on social media, online games, online streaming and search engines; limited to 30 minutes of texting each day; podcast/music permitted; and all participants were required to check in daily with screen time setting.
