Mike Dawson, currently the Chief Learning Officer for Springfield Public Schools, will be the new Executive Director of Instruction for the Branson School District next school year. He returns to Branson after serving as principal at the Cedar Ridge campus from 2003-2012.
“We are excited about Dr. Dawson’s return to our district,” said Brad Swofford, district superintendent. “He brings a wealth of instructional and leadership knowledge to the table and we feel fortunate to have the opportunity to tap into his skill set. Dawson is a great addition to our administrative team and our community.”
Dawson will fill the position currently held by Chip Arnette who will become the Executive Director of Operations, which is a new position for the district. Duties for both will become effective July 1.
Dawson is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and earned a master’s degree from California State University. He earned a specialist degree from Missouri State University and a doctorate from the University of Arkansas. After leaving Branson, he was an assistant superintendent for the Monett School District and then moved to his current position with Springfield Public Schools. Dawson and his wife Wendy are the parents to three children, two of whom are school-age.
