Branson High School has a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist. Ben Walworth, a senior, will advance to the final round of the 65th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. He is among approximately 16,000 academically talented students who have the opportunity to continue in the competition that will award $31 million in National Merit Scholarships.
Walworth entered the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2018 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship qualifying test, which serves as an initial screen of program entrants. The nationwide pool of semifinalists represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.
Semifinalists must submit a detailed scholarship application in which they provide information about the following: his/her academic record; participation in school and community activities; demonstrated leadership abilities; employment; and honors/awards received. Finalists will be announced next spring.
