Ben Walworth, a senior, has been named a Semifinalist in the 2020 Coca-Cola Scholars Program. He is among 1,928 students named as Semifinalist from a pool of 93,075 applicants representing schools across the country. The selection is based on academic excellence, leadership and service demonstrated in school and community activities. The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation will award 150 college scholarship worth $20,000.
The Scholars Foundation is a joint effort between Coca-Cola bottlers and the Coca-Cola Company. It is the largest corporate-sponsored, achievement-based scholarship program in the United States. The Foundation has awarded $72 million in scholarships over the last 32 years.
Semifinalists will now complete essays, submit recommendations and transcripts for the second phase of the competition. An independent selection committee will review submitted materials and select 250 Finalists by the end of January. These finalists will then participate in an online or in-person interview. Scholarships will be awarded to 150 Coca-Cola Scholars in March.
