A+ Scholarship Program

Students who qualify under the A+ Scholarship Program are eligible for tuition money to any Missouri public community college, vocational school or technical school, upon graduation from high school for a period of 48 months after high school; completion of 105% of the hours required for the program; or receipt of an associate's degree.

Several colleges and universities in Missouri also offer scholarships to students who qualify for the A+ program. Please check with schools to which you are applying to see if you qualify.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO PARTICIPATE???

  • Attend an A+ Designated High School for any 2 years prior to graduation
  • Graduate from an A+ High School with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5
  • Average 95% attendance during four years of high school
  • Perform 50 hours of unpaid school-based tutoring of which up to 25% may include job shadowing
  • Maintain a record of good citizenship and avoid the unlawful use of drugs or alcohol
  • Achieve a score of proficient or advanced on the Algebra I EOC exam or the equivalent level on a higher level DESE approved EOC, or a qualifying score, as established annually by the coordinating board for higher education, on the COMPASS exam or the mathematics component of the ACT Test
  • Attempt to secure federal funds which do not need to be repaid by completing the FAFSA form during the senior year
  • 18 year old males register for selective service

To maintain eligibility while attending a Missouri public community college or vocational/technical school, a student must be enrolled on a full-time basis and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

A+ SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES TO 4-YEAR UNIVERSITIES/COLLEGES

The following four-year colleges/universities offer A+ Scholarships not funded by the State of Missouri. These scholarships are competitive and the A+ Senior needs to apply for these early. Please contact the college or check the internet for more information. Deadlines, and scholarship details may change, please check the website for updates.

Avila University

Evangel University

This $1,000 renewable scholarship is offered for selected students who have completed the Missouri A+ Schools Program. A scholarship committee may select up to 20 applicants to receive this award. Fontbonne University

Missouri State University

This $500 per year renewable scholarship is offered to 100 students. To qualify you must meet A+ Program requirements, apply for admission by January 15, and apply for the A+ Recognition Scholarship Application.

Lincoln University

$1000 scholarship to the first 50 students who have completed the Missouri A+ Schools Program.

Missouri Southern State University

$1000 per academic year (limit of 100) to A+ qualifier enrolled full time. The scholarship cannot be combined with other MSSU academic scholarships. It is renewable up to eight semesters with a 3.0 GPA.

Missouri Western State University

This competitive scholarship is awarded to students competitively who elect to enroll in a four-year degree program and who have a 3.00 GPA. This scholarship is renewable for 4 semesters with a 3.25 GPA. Complete the General Scholarship Application.

Missouri Valley College

Any student who has completed the A+ program is eligible for ½ tuition scholarship. The student must be a first year entering resident student that meets admission requirements.

Northwest Missouri State

A limited number of scholarships are available for $1500 to an A+ qualifier. Students will need to have a minimum score of a 21 on the ACT. Contact admission for questions. It is renewable for one year by completing 24 credit hours with a GPA of 3.30. http://www.nwmissouri.edu/FinAid/Freshman.htm

Park University

$5000 tuition off for any A+ qualifier (Must provide a letter of eligibility from HS) who has a 3.25 GPA or 24 on the ACT and completes the scholarship application. It is renewable for a maximum of four years with a GPA of 3.25 and the student must complete 24 credit hours each academic year (Fall and Spring).
