Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for NHS, you need to have a 3.8 cumulative GPA, and demonstrate outstanding performance in the areas of leadership, scholarship, service, and character. Membership is granted only to those students selected by the Faculty Council.

Time Commitment

Members need to perform two hours of documented service monthly. Members must also participate in at least one group service project.

Procedure for Joining

Membership is by invitation only to juniors and seniors. Students must demonstrate leadership, service, academic achievement, and character.

Description

The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS honors those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since their beginnings in 1921 and 1929.

Expectations

Members who fail to render two hours of monthly service, attend meetings, or maintain a 3.6 GPA will be placed on probation.
